Not Just Another 2017 Travel Trend Article

1/16/2017

This is the time of year where people are making resolutions and businesses are predicting trends.  I’m not sure how successful either of those really are.  Personally, I don’t like to set myself up for failure so I swore off making resolutions years ago...

As for trend, there are already so many articles out there predicting travel trends for 2017 so I won’t add another to that list.  What I will do is let you know where I am planning to travel in 2017 with the hopes that it will give you some inspiration on where to plan your own travels.

Today’s list is the locations in the United States that are part of my 2017 travel plan.  My next post will include the international locations that I’ll be traveling to 2017.

Utah
I’ll be in Park City this month.  For anyone who knows me, this seems an unlikely plan since I don’t like cold weather and I prefer to see snow from inside a warm and cozy room.  I don’t ski or snowboard because I’m super klutzy and would surely end up with something broken.  However, my boyfriend, Ralph, won a trip through his work so we are going.  Despite the snow, I am looking forward to visiting Utah.  It’s one of the 9 states that I haven’t been to and looks beautiful.  As an added bonus, we have good friends that recently moved there, so we’ll get to hang with them.
Vermont
Keeping in the theme of states I haven’t been to, I’ll be driving to Vermont sometime this year.   Considering that it’s only 2 ½ hours from where I live to the Southern border, I’m not sure why I haven’t been there yet but it’s definitely in the 2017 plan - probably during the  summer.  A visit to Ben & Jerry’s is top on my list (hello, Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream!) but I’d also like to do some hiking through the Green Mountains.  I plan on eating a LOT of ice cream, so I’ll need a little balance.

Delaware
Delaware is the final state off of the list of nine left that I plan to see this year.  It’s about a 4 ½ hour drive to Rehoboth Beach, where a friend of mine has a house.  She’s told many stories about her time there so I’m pretty excited see it for myself.  On the agenda for this trip: relax at the beach and take a stroll down the boardwalk with an Italian ice in hand!
Rhode Island
Ralph and I spend the week of the Fourth of July in Narragansett every year.  We invite a bunch of friends to join us and we spend our time at the beach, enjoying adult beverages and eating freshly caught fish.  We also take the ferry for a day trip to Block Island, rent scooters and explore.  The entire trip is low-key and it’s a nice mid-year reset where we come home ready to get back to business.

Florida
I have a work conference in Orlando this year.  For some reason, Orlando generally tends to stress me out a bit so I’m thinking of adding a couple of days at the beach afterwards.  I haven’t decided yet whether I’ll go east to Daytona or west to Clearwater.  Each has it’s own draw, however I tend to prefer the Gulf side as the water is a little calmer.  See above, aka skiing and klutzy.  This also seems to apply to me and water sports!
So that’s the list for places that I’m planning to visit in 2017.  If you haven’t decided on your 2017 travel plans, I hope that this gives you some ideas.  And as always, I would love to help you put your plan together - whether it’s a place on this list or somewhere beyond!
