October's Clients of the Month are Bill and Marilyn. They are both small business owners - Bill in finance and Marilyn in publishing. They are well-traveled and working their way through their bucket lists. They have not only booked trips with me for their personal vacations, but they have also traveled with me on my hosted trip to the Galapagos and will be joining my group in Egypt in a few days. They are a perfect example of the type of people that I love to travel with - they are fun and funny, are easy-going, and have an adventurous spirit! Why did you choose to go to Galapagos for your vacation? Definitely a bucket list item. Had been quite interested in Darwin's adventures on the Beagle, the exotic creatures undisturbed by people or time, and just the general adventure. What was your favorite day of the trip and why? It was an active vacation with snorkeling and Kayaking and bike rides every day, so when we had a morning off (which we had been particularly looking forward to for a bit of rest) of course we hiked to what turned out to be a fabulous grotto for a swim. How did you like traveling with a group? Any surprises with this? The group was great good fun. When a huge creature with a dorsal fin swims under you while you snorkel it is fun to share the adventure with your travel buddies as you stick your head out of the water and scream "sharks!" What was the biggest surprise? During our trip to Tuneles we could hardly believe the blue footed booby let us walk into their nest while mom fed her youngster. How was the food? Did you have a favorite meal and/or restaurant? The food was always interesting. Certainly some good dining but also some peasant meals with local families which was a glimpse into local life on the islands. Was there a least favorite thing about the trip? I could have spent one more day soaking up the vibe in Floreana. What advice would you give to people traveling there? Try to get in shape for an active vacation and do everything you can while you are there. What was your most memorable experience? Swimming beside a sea turtle, and the sharks. Anything else that you'd like to add? The couple of days we spent in Quito before Galapagos was fabulous as well. The Equator museum was a hoot. If reading about Bill and Marilyn's experience in the Galapagos has inspired you to either visit the Galapagos or to travel on one of my hosted trips, you can contact me here to get started!
