February Client of the Month - Lauren and Marshal

 My February Clients of the Month are Lauren and Marshal.  They are a fun young couple who came to me for help in planning their 2017 honeymoon.  Because they both are ambitious and driven (aka they work a lot), they wanted their honeymoon to be relaxing and luxurious.  {Side note for those of you in Connecticut - Lauren is an extremely talented colorist and is opening her own salon on March 1.  I definitely recommend checking her out here!}

After talking to them more about what they were looking for, we decided that Riviera Maya would be the perfect destination for them.

Why did you choose to go to Riviera Maya for your honeymoon?

For their honeymoon, Lauren and Marshal had some specific asks. They wanted a resort where they could relax, not be overwhelmed by partiers, and enjoy an upscale atmosphere and high level of service.  I sent them a few of my favorite places to consider and they ultimately decided on Paradisus La Perla, just outside of Playa del Carmen.

What was your favorite day of the trip?

Lauren and Marshal's favorite day was their first day in Riviera Maya. They were both happy to be checked out of the real world and to celebrate and relax together as newlyweds. They took a tour of the resort with their butler (yes, they had a butler and loved it). They settled into their suite and spent the rest of the day in their private swim up pool enjoying tropical cocktails.  Sounds like the perfect first day of a honeymoon to me!

Let's talk about the food. What was your favorite meal and/or restaurant?

Part of why I recommended this particular resort and why Lauren and Marshal ultimately chose it is because of the dining options. They love beautiful restaurants and the quality of what they eat is very important to them. They also wanted to indulge in new delicacies that they had not tried before. Their favorite meals were at the resort's Latin and Asian restaurants, although there are many great options there.  As a matter of fact, one of the best meal experiences that I've ever had is at the AAA 5 Diamond restaurant there!

What was your biggest surprise?

Lauren and Marshal haven't previously traveled much so their biggest surprise was how much they were catered to from every member of the staff at the resort. They felt very pampered, which is exactly how you should feel on your honeymoon!

Okay, now for their least favorite part...

The thing that Lauren and Marshal liked least was the weather.  There was a tropical storm passing close by which resulted in some heavy rain a few days. Unfortunately this happens in the tropics. They made the best of it though and used those days to go to the resort's amazing spa!

Any advice for people traveling to Riviera Maya?

Lauren and Marshal's advice for travelers to Riviera Maya? Pack sunscreen. While it seems obvious, there are those that think, "Oh, I'll buy it at the resort." You definitely can, for about $35 a tube! Also pack light. You literally live in bathing suits during the day and only dress for dinner.
